Mason, a 2009 graduate of Savannah High School, ultimately connected with PCS, utilizing Support Coordination services, and moved into The Maples Apartments in 2012. With support from Vocational Rehabilitation and the UCP job training program, he began working at Hy-Vee in 2013 and became a cashier in 2017. This past year, Mason’s girlfriend moved in with him and due to their incomes, were paying well over market rent. With the support of family, they were able to buy a house in December 2019.

Looking back, Mason feels living at The Maples was good for him because it allowed him to learn about budgeting and money. He currently utilizes PCS Family Navigation and no longer has scheduled meetings with a Support Coordinator. He calls the Family Navigation Department as support or information is needed. Combined with his determination, hard work and self-advocacy skills, Mason is living a great life!
